Dr. Tyris “Ty” Ford was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana (Midwest region). Dr. Ford relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana (home of the Indianapolis Colts Football Team and Indy 500 racetrack) to pursue a college career at Marian University. He worked and lived in Indianapolis for over ten years, with most of his work experience in various healthcare settings.
Dr. Ford completed his Bachelor of Science (BSN) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a concentration in Family Practice at Marian University in 2017 and 2020. Shortly after graduating with his DNP, he relocated to the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia) to begin his career as a Nurse Practitioner. In 2022, he launched TNJ Direct Primary Care as an independent practice devoted to providing comprehensive primary care to patients and families who seek a genuine and empowering relationship with their healthcare provider, which they deserve. Additionally, TNJ Direct Primary Care delivers services not under the scrutiny of healthcare insurance carriers but under a membership-based model, which means increased access to your healthcare provider, extended health visits, house calls, and much more. He has over ten years of clinical healthcare experience, with five years in the acute care setting before earning his doctorate.
In addition to his belief in providing holistic care to everyone, Dr. Ford believes one’s health should be regarded as if it is a journey. The journey to optimal health should not be traveled alone but with a trusted healthcare provider who genuinely cares about you and your overall health. Considering the complexities of the current healthcare system, including long waits, rushed visits, inconveniences, impersonal and overworked healthcare providers, and regulations of insurance providers, Dr. Ford seeks to build a clinic where genuine and productive relationships are cultivated with patients to make primary care more personal, convenient, and valuable. Dr. Ford is dedicated to improving the health and wellness of all patients, especially Black/African Americans, sexual and gender minorities, and other vulnerable minority groups who are most likely to experience health disparities.

Life transitions can get messy. We all face times of uncertainty, loss, and endings. Transitions can also mean new beginnings, different relationships, and exploring the unknown in your future and your past. Our sessions are a space to examine roots of systemic oppression, inherited fears, environmental trauma, and harmful labels you were given that you didn't ask for. My role is to walk with you, bringing in my training and experience as a therapist as we examine your patterns for growth, detach what no longer serves you, and map out your mental health wellness journey together.
My work is rooted in restorative practice circle keeping and strengths-based approaches, partnering with you to explore your mental and spiritual wellness. From our first session, we'll identify your growth goals and agree on tasks and challenges that exercise the strengths you want to build.
Whether this is your first time reaching out for a therapist or looking for someone new, I offer a safe, reliable space for you to breathe and change. Schedule a free consultation call with me, and let's connect about planning our first steps together.

Tiara is a native of the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area and has a bachelor's degree from Xavier University of Louisiana and a Master's degree from Bowie State University. She is licensed in Washington, D.C. and currently pursuing her doctoral degree in International Psychology, with an intention to bring a culturally inclusive therapeutic experience to populations of color around the world.
Tiara specialize in servicing women and communities of color, within a trauma-centric perspective. As a proud lifelong learner and educator, she enjoys seeing her client's growth and development throughout the therapeutic process.
As a woman of color on the journey to practice psychotherapy, Tiara began to become acutely aware of one thing: She has a responsibility to simply show up authentically and hold space for healing. Tiara found there were a myriad of ways one could "address" a difficulty with which one is faced, but when one is curious enough to simply show up as your full authentic self, something magical is unlocked around you. That very realization is the journey that she hopes each person with whom she meets within the therapeutic setting experiences.
